چکیده

We demonstrate exciton and charged (trion) electroluminescence from frozen p-n junctions in networks of polymer-sorted, semiconducting (6,5) single-walled carbon nanotubes. Electrolyte-gating with an ionic liquid was employed to achieve injection accumulation high densities holes electrons the nanotube network at low applied voltages. Static were formed by cooling devices below melting point while ambipolar regime. These showed diode-like rectification enabled investigation electron-hole recombination near-infrared under controlled conditions. The contributions red-shifted trion emission spectra influenced initial parameters junction formation (balanced or unbalanced) lateral bias, but did not depend on temperature (30–200 K). tilted potential profile along fixed consequently number excess carriers within zone found predominantly determine intensity observed ratio.

All-optical trion generation in single-walled carbon nanotubes.

We present evidence of all-optical trion generation and emission in pristine single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs). Luminescence spectra, recorded on individual SWCNTs over a large cw excitation intensity range, show trion emission peaks redshifted with respect to the bright exciton peak. Clear chirality dependence is observed for 22 separate SWCNT species, allowing for determination of elect...

Single - Walled 4 . Single - Walled Carbon Nanotubes

Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) are hollow, long cylinders with extremely large aspect ratios, made of one atomic sheet of carbon atoms in a honeycomb lattice. They possess extraordinary thermal, mechanical, and electrical properties and are considered as one of the most promising nanomaterials for applications and basic research. This chapter describes the structural, electronic, vibra...

Cutting single-walled carbon nanotubes.

A two-step process is utilized for cutting single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs). The first step requires the breakage of carbon-carbon bonds in the lattice while the second step is aimed at etching at these damage sites to create short, cut nanotubes. To achieve monodisperse lengths from any cutting strategy requires control of both steps. Room-temperature piranha and ammonium persulfate solu...

Nerve agent detection using networks of single-walled carbon nanotubes

We report the use of carbon nanotubes as a sensor for chemical nerve agents. Thin-film transistors constructed from random networks of single-walled carbon nanotubes were used to detect dimethyl methylphosphonate ~DMMP!, a simulant for the nerve agent sarin. These sensors are reversible and capable of detecting DMMP at sub-ppb concentration levels, and they are intrinsically selective against i...
